This is one of my favorite songs by my all-time favorite band – I hope you enjoy!
Wow, I have done a lot of flying this month! I have been to Boston, Charlotte, Madison, Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and New York – that equates to 12 flights total. And I am grateful for every moment.
I started at the beginning of October with a trip to Boston with my husband. He was attending a conference and I tagged along. We had a great time – I found the local OSU Alumni Club watch party for the Buckeye game, and we ate really well. Boston is such a cool place. It was wonderful to get away for a few days and just enjoy time together.
The next week brought the Wisconsin SHRM state conference in Madison. What a great event! Seriously, if you have the opportunity to attend this conference, do it. It is one of the best SHRM state conferences in the country. Very well organized, great speakers, and the exhibit hall is stellar. I was fortunate to spend time with cherished #HR friends, old and new. I presented for the third year in a row at the conference and had a very engaged audience as we discussed the ‘new day’ for HR.
I then traveled to Atlantic City for the Garden State SHRM state conference. This was my first time attending the event and it was really great. I led a session on how to train managers and the audience engagement was phenomenal. I have heard from several of the attendees since, including a fellow Buckeye!
To close out my travels, I took my oldest daughter Avery to New York City for her fall break. We had such a wonderful time! We saw so many of the iconic NYC sites and attended the Friends Experience (we are huge fans of the show!) The weather was ideal, and the food was fabulous. We capped it off by seeing ‘Chicago’ – Avery is a dancer so this was a highlight for her! As we are inching closer to her senior year of high school, I want to enjoy every moment I can with her. The time together was priceless.
NOTE: The travel industry is limping along, but they need some serious help. I would love for the operational gurus at Disney and Chick-fil-A to offer their expertise on efficiency and customer service. We would all be better off.
For the past week, I have been home and trying to recover. Exhausted is putting it lightly. But I am so grateful for the opportunities I have been given. I am blessed to have a wonderful family, especially my amazing husband who holds the fort down when I’m gone. My cup is full.
And now it’s time for me to fly again – I am excited to announce I will be joining Diversified Systems Inc. in Westerville, Ohio as their Vice President of HR! This is going to be a challenging role with a wonderful organization. I can’t wait to get started! A huge thank you to all of my family and friends who have supported me and my career over the years. I am truly grateful.
Is it time for you to fly? Where are you off to?
